Professor Samuel Odewunmi of the School of Transport and Logistics, Professor Oluwatosin Benedict Adu of the Biochemistry Department, and Dr. Gbemisola Moronke Saibu, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry, have all been awarded grants worth N9 million by the Lagos State Science and Research Council Research and Innovation (LASRIC) Grant.
Professor Odewunmi was awarded N3.5 million for his project ‘Formulation and Production of Road Repair Composite from Solid Waste Material: Plastics, Polyethylene Bags, Quarry Dusts, and Sand,’ while Professor Adu was awarded N2.5 million for his project ‘Production and Development of Terminalia Catappa (Indian Almond) Nut for Industrial Application.’
Dr. Saibu was also awarded N3 million for her project, ‘Assessment of Chemical Composition of Catfish Oil, Development of Body Cream, and Patent.’
Their grants came after LASRIC issued a request for grant applications in the field of Research and Innovation, with an emphasis on circular economy and cloud computing.
Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, Vice Chancellor, congratulated the grantees on their achievement in the competition and assured them that the institution would provide all necessary support to guarantee that their projects were completed.
