The JAMB Admission Status Checking Portal is up for business. What is the procedure for checking my JAMB admission status? How do I accept or reject a JAMB CAPS admission offer? Has the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) begun to issue admissions? Do you have any of these questions as a JAMB candidate? You’ll learn how to check your JAMB admission status on your JAMB profile via the JAMB CAPS site, as well as how to accept or reject an admission offer if one has been extended to you. Follow the procedures below to check your JAMB Admission status.

How To Check JAMB Admission Status on Your JAMB Profile via JAMB CAPS & How to Accept or Reject Admission Offer

You can check your admission status on JAMB CAPS portal by follow the simple steps outlined below.

  1. Go to JAMB portal at JAMB eFacility Portal. (We recommend you use a laptop or desktop computer or Chrome browser on your mobile phone.)
  2. Login with your Email and Password.
  3. Then locate and click on Check Admission Status.
  4. If the page only shows Welcome, do not worry. Just click on the options icon on your phone’s browser (located at the top right corner of the screen on Google Chrome) and change the view of the page from Mobile View to Desktop View.
  5. Click on Admission Status on the left panel.
  6. After your details have been successfully loaded, check if you have been given admission.
  7. If you have been given admission, you will notice that the Accept Admission and Reject Admission buttons will be active. If not, the buttons will appear faint. You can now accept or reject your admission offer under your Admission Profile by clicking on the corresponding button.

NB: You may not notice the option to check your Admission Status on JAMB CAPS if you are using a phone. The welcome message may be the only thing that most phone users see. Because you must view the entire website in desktop mode, the caps page simply shows the welcome message. This is why, if you’re on a phone, the Chrome browser is advised. All you have to do is go to Chrome’s settings and select request desktop site to see the entire page, as described in the steps above.

Please Note:

  • Successfully admitted candidates are recommended to declare their acceptance or rejection of admission online as soon as possible to allow their admission to be processed.
  • Candidates who have not been offered admission should use JAMB CAPS to track their status.
  • Candidates who selected “awaiting result” during registration must upload their O’Level results to the JAMB portal so that their preferred university can process their application. Follow the steps below:

How to Upload O’Level Result on JAMB in 2021/2022

  1. Visit an accredited JAMB CBT centre or JAMB office or JAMB registration centre/café closest to you.
  2. Ensure you go along with a copy of your O’level result (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) as well as the email address you used during the online registration and your JAMB profile code.
  3. Once you get there, request for an upload of your O’level result on JAMB portal.

What is the Meaning of JAMB Admission Status Messages on JAMB CAPS Portal?

If your Admission Status on the CAPS Portal is “NOT ADMITTED,” it’s possible that your preferred school has yet to provide JAMB the suggested list of admitted applicants. However, if your preferred school’s admission list has been issued but your admission status on CAPS Portal remains “NOT ADMITTED,” it merely implies that you were not considered for admission to that school.

For those that their Admission Status reads “RECOMMENDED”, the possible meaning to that is though your school of choice has considered you for admission, JAMB is still reviewing your admission to ensure it complies with all the necessary criteria put in place by your school of choice and JAMB.

If you see “ADMISSION IN PROGRESS…,” it means you have met the prerequisites to be admitted to your preferred school but have not yet been considered for admission owing to issues such as admission quota, ELDS, male-to-female ratio, and so on. This means that if some other candidates who were offered admission to the institution decide to decline, you may have a chance of getting accepted. So, if you haven’t been accepted, your best bet is to keep checking the portal in the hopes that your admission status changes.

What are the Alternative Methods to Check Your JAMB Admission Status?

You can also check directly from the JAMB E-facility page by following the steps below:

  1. Visit JAMB eFacility Portal.
  2. Login to your JAMB profile using the correct username and password you used to register for JAMB.
  3. After successfully logging in, scroll down then locate and click the Check Admission Status tab.
  4. Select your Exam year and Enter your JAMB registration number in the required column.
  5. Finally, click on Check Admission Status to access your admission status.

Note: As mentioned earlier, if your school is yet to release admission list, it will read: “admission in progress, check back later” under the tag ‘Admission Status’. In this case, you won’t be able to click on the ‘Accept admission’ or ‘Reject admission’ button. So, the best you can do in this situation is to be patient. Also See: What You Must Know When Checking JAMB CAPS Admission Status

The JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) is an admission processing system that is geared towards ensuring quality control, transparency and credibility of the admission process. JAMB CAPS makes provision for a “market place” in the JAMB portal where institutions can go and “request for students in Nigeria who score their cut off points.” If you are offered admission on the JAMB CAPS portal, you can choose to accept or reject the admission.
