The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that the registration process for the 2022 UTME will be cashless. This was revealed in the weekly bulletin of the board. This is being done, according to the board, in order to put an end to extortion. According to the board, the new procedure will not raise the cost of UTME registration in any manner.
“Only the method of payment has changed; the price has not.” Candidates can now stroll into any registration center and register without paying a fee under the new policy.” The text of the bulletin is as follows:
The board also said that it will collect the N700 registration fee (an authorised cost charged by CBT centers for assisting applicants with registration) on their behalf.
The board will collect the permitted N700 registration cost at the time of registration and remit it to the various approved centers, according to the bulletin.
This, according to the board, will help to avoid candidate extortion, as some CBT centers engage in enormous extortion of applicants during the exercise.
